Sophos Antivirus Retirement Notice

Dear Bruin Community:

UCLA will retire the Sophos Antivirus product for campus on Oct. 28, 2021. If you are utilizing Sophos on any personally owned machines, you will need to uninstall and switch products before this date to avoid a disruption in your antivirus protection. For university-owned devices using Sophos, we are transitioning to FireEye Endpoint Security (FES).

What to Know

  • After Oct. 28, 2021, your computer will no longer update your current version of Sophos. This can leave your device vulnerable to viruses and malware.
  • This retirement will affect the population of personally owned and university-owned devices across UCLA that may be running the campus-licensed version of Sophos.
  • Upon its expiration on Oct. 28, 2021, UCLA will no longer provide a university-funded antivirus solution for personal devices.
  • Faculty and staff who are authorized to use a personal device for University business can request a license for the FES platform through your local IT support team.
  • University-owned devices will be transitioned to the FES platform via your local IT support teams.
